Mitt Romney's vetting skills are pretty laughable, says Michael Collins.  Cases in point: Paul Ryan -- and odious Missouri GOP Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin.

The good folks at AmericaBlog have compiled a "three minute oppo research review" of Paul Ryan that's worth bookmarking. The page also links to a detailed analysis of Ryan from America's Bridge.

Mitt Romney's campaign team is panicked, and rushed the announcement of his VP pick -- on a weekend, mind you, when all but political junkies are following the news -- in a desperate attempt at "game change." The choice of Ryan will lose Florida for Romney, and it's hard to see how Ryan does anything except consolidate the austerity/social conservative wing of the GOP and maybe (emphasis on maybe) fend off chicanery by the Ron Paul wing of the party at the Republican Convention.

Michael Collins asks President Obama to focus efforts on the needs of the United States instead of the wild goose chase for empire in the Middle East and elsewhere.  The president has a lot of catching up to do.

My commentary today is about the economic ignorance between people with heart – also called liberals – and morons on the right.

Let me reacquaint you first with former joke-candidate for President of the United States, Wayne Allyn Root, who is as close to a neo-Nazi as one can be, and a leader of the Tea Party movement.

He publishes some gibberish titled “Personal Liberty Digest”. Read it when you need a grim laugh.

I did — and then decided it was time to respond to his recent editorial — or, more accurately, "idiotorial."

Even after several billion people around the world, including me, laughed their heads off at the latest Ralph Lauren design for the 2012 Olympic American Team, the company – so angry at the media for “niggling” them – has now changed the designs so that the Polo Pony on the shirts is 11.5 times as large and the USA emblem is just a nipple cover – if the nipple is in the “right place”.

Not only that, but the polo mallet being held by the rider actually works!

When chest muscles are flexed the mallet swings in a perfect arc over the “left place”.
