| FROM: Ken E. Yet another wild-eyed "lunatic fringe" story from the Internet turns out to be true. When I first heard of this story, I found it really hard to believe that this could be happening, but apparently it's all true. According to the Press Telegram, Kellog, Brown and Root (KBR), a subsidiary of Halliburton, has been awarded a $385 MILLION contract to build concentration camps in the United States. AKA "temporary dentention" centers. These are the same wonderful people who brought you Gitmo, so I guess they know what they're doing. Ostensibly, the idea is to have a place to stash a few million people (read Mexicans) if some disaster occurs in a near-by country causing a massive wave of illegal immigrants into this country. Or at least that's what they're saying is the justification for this program, but as the author points out, these camps could be repurposed overnight. This is beyond an outrage. In a time of astronomical federal debt, exploding deficits, and while waging two utterly disastrous wars, to even think about spending nearly $400 MILLION for this garbage is insane -- not to mention the fact that there are truly sinister possible implications. And by the way, is there ANYTHING that Halliburton can't get away with? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
