Lindsey Graham, War Criminal
Why are Trent Lott and Tom DeLay going after Tom Daschle when a certain South Carolina blabbermouth Is The REAL security risk?
by Tamara Baker
April 2, 2002 -- SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA (APJP) -- I've been so caught up in following the news on JulieFest 2002 that I missed a recent GOP atrocity -- but, luckily for me and for the rest of America, Thomas Oliphant of the Boston Globe caught it.
To wit:
As you all know, in the name of national security in the wake of September 11th, thousands of people have been jailed without trial, TV show hosts nearly forced off the air, marchers and protesters harassed and put under surveillance, websites scoured for information that might possibly give "aid and comfort" to America's enemies.
But, of course, all of the above only applies if you're not a Republican -- just ask Congressman Lindsey Graham, R-SC, who is now trying to trade up for Strom Thurmond's Senate seat.
As Mr. Oliphant noted last week, Representative Graham, in anticipation of a Bush fund-raising visit last week, openly boasted that he knew that the Pentagon was planning to attack Iraq sometime before the end of the year, probably in the fall.
Well! Loose lips sink ships, Lindsey -- or didn't Trent Lott or Tom DeLay tell you that?
(Oh, right -- they were too busy reaming out Tom Daschle for daring to criticize Bush's Neverending War Scheme.)
Anyway, the Pentagon brass must have been quite upset to see Graham abuse his membership in the House Armed Services Committee in so stupid a manner, because he soon began to backpedal furiously, stating that in fact he had idea when the Bush Junta planned to attack Iraq. Even so, his initial blabberings have probably seriously compromised Phase II of the Neverending War Scheme, which can't exactly be making the Junta happy with him right now.
Graham should count his lucky stars. If he'd been a Democratic Congress-critter, or a private citizen, he'd be in jail now. As it is, I seriously doubt that he'll be privy to any more high-level briefings on this subject.
