April 26, 2001 (APJP) -- A friend of mine says that "the Rethugs decided that hypocrisy was the Coin of the Realm and decided to corner the market."

Have you caught the interplay of writers -- Evan Gahr, Joe Conason, Thomas Edsell, mediawhoresonline.com and Horowitz -- about Paul Weyrich's "the Jews killed Jesus" flap?

Horowitz's whining, sniveling, intellectually dishonest response was re-posted yesterday at Salon.com.

Recently, Horowitz played out one of his race-baiting conceptual cultural events. He wrote an anti-reparations rant, disguised it as an advertisement and then sent it to college newspapers all over the country. Horowitz cleverly created a heads-I-win-tails-you-loose scenario. If the papers published his ad, the calculated irate responses gave him notoriety. If the papers rejected the ad, then Horowitz and the local hate-radio-ranters could scream about "political correctness" and "free speech."

The intellectual flaw with his concept, of course, is that no publication is obligated to accept any advertisement for any reason at any time. No matter, either way the papers decided, Horowitz captured another carefully constructed15 minuets of fame.

Horowitz is Andy Warhol's soup can full of toxic sludge.

Now, in his defense of Weyrich, Horowitz has banned "sometime columnist" Evan Gahr from appearing again in FrontPage, the magazine Horowitz edits because Gahr criticized Weyrich. So much for "political correctness" and "free speech." Ca-ching goes that coin in the slot machine of hypocrisy.

The sub-title of Horowitz's piece says it all, "Paul Weyrich offended Jews with his recent column, but is it worth burying his career over a single statement on a 40-year public life?"

Indeed. How has Weyrich become one of the most powerful forces of right-wingdom without the media scrutiny he so rightly deserves? Throughout those 40 years, Weyrich has been personally associated with unrepentant Nazis, Nazi war criminals, skinheads, Sun Myung Moon, Christian reconstructionists and the KKK.

Conason reports some of these connections in his article at Salon.com, but always the gentleman, Conason says, "Of course, American Jews are in no serious danger from Paul Weyrich." How can he be so sure? All of the groups that Weyrich is associated with have an overt or covert agenda against all minorities, including Jews.

According to Russ Bellant, Weyrich's Heritage Foundation (and Free Congress Foundation), "will continue to be a key element in the phalanx of rightist groups with an agenda of austerity for the poor, hostility to minorities and women, upward distribution of wealth for the rich, economic domination of the Third World, with repression and bloodletting for those who rebel."

Weyrich's Heritage Foundation was the acknowledged "shadow government" during the Reagan administration. This Bush administration has been compared to the Reagan administration, both in agenda and staff.

This recent flap is important because it spotlights the background noise that is substituting for the real questions that should be asked about this Jesus-is-my-philosopher-faith-based administration. David Horowitz is spinning in his soup can as fast as he can in the hopes that the public will not find out who Paul Weyrich really is and what Weyrich, Horowitz and this administration really stand for and who they really represent.
